I am not too familiar with Grease Pencil so when I was trying to get into it today I was pretty much stumped completely. The shaders seemed really obscure. I'm not sure what was going on with textures. There was only one brush mask per brush...

I really wanted to translate some of my Krita brushes into Blender so, naturally, I just went ahead and built Grease Pencil from scratch using Geometry Nodes.

It's actually surprisingly easy to do stuff like this as it's just grids instanced on splines.

The file is for 3.1 Alpha if you do want to play with it!

The object with the modifiers is called Not GP and you'll want to select it within the outliner (it's set to not be clickable in the viewport). And it will take anything from the STROKES Collection and turn it into a nice watercolour-y stroke. There's a master radius control on the modifier but if you want to make sub changes, moving things vertically will let them get a bit thinner.

Very much just a WIP / proof of concept but it might prove interesting to someone!

Wishing you a Merry Christmas!

The paper texture is from David Revoy licenced CC-BY.

One of the brush tips is (I believe) from an artist called Radian in their Rad-Pack of Krita brushes.
